Guiding and positioning devices on belt conveyors

The guidance and positioning on the belt conveyor line refers to the correction of the position and direction of the material when it is transported on the conveyor, and the material runs in the specified direction and stays at the specified position.

Generally, there is no need for specialized guidance and positioning of the workpiece, such as manual belt assembly lines, bulk conveyor lines, climbing lines, and other conveyor lines. However, for belt conveyors used in automated assembly and inspection production lines, as well as for many automated specialized machines, it is usually necessary to set guide plates or rods on both sides of the belt to ensure that the workpiece always maintains an accurate position along the width direction during transportation. This is because the position of the belt during operation inevitably changes to avoid abnormal wear and jamming during belt operation, A certain gap should be maintained between the upper and both sides of the belt and other belt conveyor structures.

The guide plate or guide rod should ensure that the workpiece can move freely during transportation, and also ensure that the workpiece has a certain positional accuracy along the width direction. Usually, the space width between the guide plate or guide rod is selected to be approximately 3-5mm wider than the workpiece width, which means that the single edge between the workpiece and the guide plate is taken as 1.5-2.5mm. The positioning of the conveyor line usually uses a positive blocking device and an induction device. The positive blocking device stops the material at the designated position in front of the positive blocking device, and the induction device sends a signal to stop the conveyor belt after sensing the material to the designated position
